Two more schools in the region have been added to the list of those with positive COVID-19 cases.
Barrie North Collegiate Institute and Tecumseth Beeton Elementary School both have had individuals test positive for the coronavirus, although no classrooms have been closed and the schools currently remain open.
In an email to parents/guardians of Barrie North students and signed by principal Greg Brucker, it noted the school was informed by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) of the case.
“The SMDHU has determined, through their investigation, that there have been no close contacts to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 identified at the school," notes the letter.
As there have been no close contacts identified, the SMDHU does not recommend having your child tested unless they are showing symptoms of COVID-19. Therefore, your child may continue to come to school,” said the email.
Due to privacy concerns, it is not revealed whether a positive case involves a staff member or student, unless it is deemed important for health reasons.
