If you tried unsuccessfully to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment yesterday, you should try again today.

The provincial system launched yesterday, but within a few hours, residents of Simcoe Muskoka reported they were unable to book local appointments.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit announced they were inundated with calls, but were unable to book appointments.

The health unit reported the province had failed to upload all the available clinics and appointments for the two regions to the system.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has announced this afternoon that issue is resolved and those who were unsuccessful yesterday should make another attempt today.

Those who booked COVID vaccine appointments yesterday but would like to choose a different location can change their appointments on the provincial booking site, provided they have their email confirmation.

In some cases, people booking appointments got error messages stating their forms had been "tampered with."

Yesterday at 5 p.m., Alexandra Hilkene, a spokesperson for the Minister of Health, said the technical issue resulting in some registrants receiving an error message had been resolved.

"We have had great success with our booking system to date," said Hilkene in an email. "As of 3 p.m. (March 15) more than 92,000 appointments for first and second doses have been booked since the provincial booking system was launched."

Currently, vaccine appointments are limited to people aged 80 or older, Indigenous adults (over 16) and their household members, people receiving chronic home care services, and prioritized health care workers.

You can book an appointment online here, or call  1-833-943-3900.

Neither the health unit nor your doctor is able to book an appointment for you. All appointments must go through the provincial system.
