InnisfilToday received the following letter commenting on roadway construction in Barrie.
The city of Barrie should really rethink how their construction projects are carried out.
The rebuild of McKay Road and Veterans Drive is a fiasco. The road closure was scheduled as a 1.5-year project and now it has been extended for another year. Especially people coming from the south of Barrie are being forced into long drives around the area and into some of the heaviest city traffic on Mapleview Drive.
The similar project carried out on Innisfil Beach Road (IBR) was done without closing the roads at all. The same sewers, water mains, etc., were built and the roads and the very busy intersection of IBR and Yonge Street was rebuilt and traffic on these extremely busier roads was never interrupted.
Time for Barrie to take a much better look before awarding contracts.
