Published from 1914 to 1951, later as The Farmers Advocate and Home Magazine, The Canadian Countryman served a primarily rural readership. Weekly until 1929, then biweekly after, the tabloid contained all manner of farm and agriculture-related news and advertising across 20 to 60 pages. Each issue featured a cover photo, often posed, effectively extolling country living. (Male farmers seemed particularly fond of their pipes.) The ladyfolk were offered homemaking tips and kitchen advice. This selection of 31 covers ranges from 1919 to the the 1930s.
