Barrie police will be raising some cold, hard cash for Special Olympics next month during the annual Polar Plunge in Kempenfelt Bay.
The 2024 event is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 and will see members of the Barrie Police Service, and civilians, jumping into the lake for the fundraiser.
"This chilly event is an incredible fundraiser for Special Olympics Ontario with 100 per cent of the funds raised directly benefiting Special Olympics Ontario athletes," city police said in a news release.
Participants, also known as Plungers, can now register to take part in the event. Click here for more details.
Every plunger will receive an official Polar Plunge towel, and police say the more funds you raise, the more incentives you receive.
The event will take place at Centennial Beach, located at 65 Lakeshore Dr.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., with the plunge to follow at 11:30 a.m.
