Residents of Innisfil and Thornton may have noticed a strange smell in the air, but officials say there’s no need to worry.

At about 7 a.m. Innisfil town staff were notified of a potential gas leak at Enbridge’s natural gas Thornton Gate Station at 4106 Innisfil Beach Road in Thornton, a representative for the town of Innisfil explained.

Innisfil Fire and Rescue Services contacted Enbridge whose technician discovered a minor odourant leak on a stainless steel fitting, which they were able to re-tighten and repair, according to Leanne McNaughton, a representative of Enbridge.

While there will still be a smell in the area, there is no hazard, and emergency services cleared the area and opened the road shortly before 9 a.m.
