Residents in the CFB Borden area can expect to hear some explosions in the coming days and weeks.

The Department of National Defence says soldiers from the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre (CFLTC) Ammunition Technical Officer course will be conducting "controlled detonations" at CFB Borden from March 13 to April 10, and again from April 23 to 30.

This training will take place between the hours of approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and exclude weekends, according to the department.

"At no time will this training pose a risk to local population or infrastructure; rigorous safety standards that govern the use of controlled detonations will be strictly observed," stated a news release.

Up to approximately 15 controlled detonations will take place daily.

The Canadian Armed Forces employs a wide range of ammunition on ranges across Canada. The department says ammunition technicians assist in the "safe and expedient disposal of any misfired, dud or obsolete ammunition in Canada or on deployed operations overseas."

CFB Borden is located about 20 kilometres north of Alliston.
