Fashionistas take note.
The first annual fashion show from The Clothes Line Bradford store will be held Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bradford Legion.
Not only will guests be able to view some of the latest fashions from the shop, but there will also be a 50/50 draw, refreshments, a silent auction, entertainment and giveaways. All models, including one special 'Mystery Model', will be strutting down the runway sporting some of this season's trendy threads.
"We are so excited about the Fashion Show event because it provides an interactive and exciting way to introduce the community to the store and learn more about what CONTACT Community Services is all about, as far as our services and the values that guide our service delivery," said CONTACT's Executive Director Emily McIntosh.
The second-hand shop, run by CONTACT Community Services first opened in December 2021, a project spearheaded by local realtors Rose M. Sorbera and Anastasia Orlando.
A planning committee have been busy organizing and planning for the show over the past five months, obtaining sponsorships and promoting the event.
The Clothes Line is run by volunteers and one full-time staff member, selling donated clothing at affordable prices, with profits going back to the community through CONTACT's services in housing, employment, and community support.
"The Clothes Line is a special place where people of all economic backgrounds come to explore what retail there is to offer and to walk away knowing they have paid only a fraction of the price!" said McIntosh. "In addition, they have helped the environment by reducing landfill waste and also helped their neighbours and community members by ensuring people in need can be supported through difficult times via support through our charity."
Since opening its doors, the store has seen an influx of clothing donations and customers with total sales to date at $7,327.
"The Clothes Line is the epitome of community, 90 per cent volunteer-run, and 100 per cent community donated stock," said McIntosh. "The Clothes Line engages volunteers from all walks of life and welcomes all persons to come in and find what they need. Everyone is shopping. People in need do not pay. And those that can, find deals that are not matched anywhere else. Ultimately, 'It's a place where everyone matters'."
The Clothes Line is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Tuesdays and Fridays 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Tickets for the show are $10 each and are available for purchase at the Clothes Line Bradford at 95 Holland St. West. Each ticket will include a $5 coupon to redeem at the store.
