An Innisfil charitable organization is seeing a surge in requests for help this holiday season.
In a social-media post, Community for Kids (C4K) president Myrlene Boken noted a total of 235 families are being assisted by the organization through the distribution of holiday hampers and turkey dinners this year. That includes 550 children and a total of 944 people.
That’s a roughly 20-per-cent increase over last year.
“It makes such a difference to have people care about the work we are doing,” she said. “Thank-you to the entire Community 4 Kids executive that works hard to pull this off, and the entire community that comes together to help us.
“We are so thankful to all volunteers who made this possible, the folks who shopped, donated toys, filled the children's bags.”
C4K is a registered charity incorporated in 2012. Donations made now stay within the community and surplus is kept in inventory to support the organization’s many year-round initiatives.
