COVID-19 case reported at Nantyr Shores

Overall, there were nine new COVID-19 cases in schools reported this weekend in Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Innisfil and Bradford

Nine new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in schools across Simcoe County over the weekend.

In Innisfil, there is one case at Nantyr Shores Secondary School. No classrooms have been closed as a result of this case.

Two of the nine cases are in Barrie schools. There is one new case at Steele Street Public School, with one new classroom closed. This adds to two cases and classroom closures previously reported at the school.

There is also one new case at The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie, with one classroom closure. This adds to two cases and one classroom closure previously reported at the school.

In Bradford West-Gwillimbury schools, there are three new cases: one at W.H. Day Elementary School with one classroom closed, one at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School with one classroom closed, and one at St. Angela Merici Catholic School.

In Orillia, there is one new case being reported at Monsignor Lee Catholic School. No classrooms are closed as a result of this case.

In Midland, there is one case at Georgian Bay District Secondary School, with one classroom closed.

Also new as of this weekend, there is one case reported at Tosorontio Central Public School in Everett.

There are three Simcoe County schools that have active outbreaks declared by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit: Holy Cross Catholic School in Innisfil, Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford, and Andrew Hunter Elementary School in Barrie.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit site, an outbreak is declared at a school when student and/or staff have confirmed COVID-19 cases that can be linked to the educational setting.

As of March 26 at the Simcoe County District School Board, there are currently 24 active COVID-19 cases:

  • One case at Tosorontio Central Public School in Everett
  • One case at W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Georgian Bay District Secondary School in Midland, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil
  • One case at Fieldcrest Elementary School in Bradford
  • Three cases at Fred C. Cook Elementary School in Bradford with two classrooms closed
  • Three cases at Boyne River Public School in Alliston, with two classrooms closed
  • Two cases at Cookstown Central Public School in Cookstown, with two classrooms closed
  • One case at Ernest Cumberland Elementary School in Alliston, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Severn Shores Public School in Cumberland Beach, with one classroom closed
  • Three cases at Steele Street Public School in Barrie, with three classrooms closed
  • One case at West Bayfield Elementary School in Barrie
  • Two cases at Banting Memorial High School in Alliston, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Hillcrest Elementary School in Barrie, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Ferndale Woods Elementary School in Barrie, with one classroom closed

At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 27 active COVID-19 cases:

  • One case at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford, one classroom closes, reported on Mar. 28
  • One case at St. Angela Merici Catholic School in Bradford, reported on Mar. 28
  • One case at Monsignor Lee Catholic School in Orillia, reported on Mar. 28
  • One case at Foley Catholic School in Brechin, no classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 24
  • One case at Monsignor J.E. Ronan Catholic School in Beeton, no classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 24
  • Two cases at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Midland, one classroom closed, reported on Mar. 24
  • Three cases at The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie, two classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 28
  • St. John Paul II Catholic School in Barrie has two cases with no classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 21
  • St. Paul's Catholic School in Alliston has one case and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 19
  • Holy Cross Catholic School in Innisfil has eight cases, reported on Mar. 28, outbreak declared Mar. 16
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School in Barrie has one case and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 16
  • Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School in Tottenham has one case, and one classroom closure reported on Mar. 17
  • Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Angus has one case, reported on Mar. 16
  • Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 22, outbreak declared Mar. 2
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School has two cases, with no classroom closures, reported on Mar. 18

ÉSC Nouvelle-Alliance in Barrie has one case, reported on Mar. 24.

The health unit will contact those who are considered to have had high-risk exposure to a known case of COVID-19.
