Deck the Mailbox contest brings 'magic of the season' to Innisfil Heights

Annual event included judging by Innisfil's mayor and deputy mayor, and prizes from Tim Hortons

The Innisfil Heights community is in full holiday mode.

Several homes in the area participated in the Innisfil Heights Ratepayers Association’s annual Deck the Mailbox competition Dec. 21.

“(It) truly captures the magic of the season and builds that close-knit, Hallmark movie-style community spirit,” association board member Rita Delle Donne said. “From (Innisfil) Mayor Lynn Dollin and Deputy Mayor Kenneth Fowler serving as honorary judges to the generous sponsorship from Tim Hortons, it’s clear this event is a labour of love for Innisfil Heights. It sure brought out everyone’s creativity and holiday cheer.”

This year, Steve and Jayne Pickering took first place. Paul and Debbie Yandt finished second; Luciano and Susana Colletti placed third.

Honourable mentions went to Gianni and Rita Caputo and Srdjan and Aleksandra Mucibabic.

Judging criteria was based on creativity and festive spirit.

The winning entry, which included characters from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, received a $50 gift card to Tim Hortons; second place earned a gift basket sponsored by Tims.
