NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL
*************************
As Innisfil’s 200th birthday celebrations continue, the Town of Innisfil is participating in a province-wide initiative, Doors Open. The Doors Open Ontario program, established in 2002, encourages Ontarians to discover the stories inside the province’s most unique and fascinating historic, cultural, and natural sites. While guests are usually invited to explore these sites in person, the COVID-19 pandemic meant a shift in plans. This year, to protect the safety of our residents, Doors Open has gone digital!
The Digital Doors Open platform enables Ontarians to visit provincial treasures from the comfort of their own homes – visitors can access photos, digital collections, virtual tours, online activities, and more. We invite people of all ages to come together online and feel our strong sense of community – even while we are physically distancing.
“We are proud to take part in this province-wide initiative to open Innisfil’s doors digitally and share our community with residents and virtual visitors,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “It is an exciting opportunity for local sites, that are not typically accessible to the public, to share the unique ways that they shape and define our community.”
The four participating sites across Innisfil include:
- Be Contemporary Gallery
- Innisfil ideaLAB & Library
- Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre
- Waters’ Passive House
You can see all the sites by visiting: DoorsOpenOntario.on.ca/digital. New sites will be added weekly – check back often so you don’t miss out!
