Fire causes 'substantial' interior damage to Bradford home

Incident occurred Dec. 18 at about 3 p.m.

On Dec. 19, 2023, this story was updated from an earlier version.

Investigators are still determining the exact cause of a blaze that significantly damaged a Longview Drive house Dec. 18.

Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to the scene Monday at about 3 p.m. BradfordToday was told no one was home at the time of the fire, but a neighbour noticed smoke pouring out of the building and called the incident in.

The blaze may be electrical in nature, though that won't be confirmed until a final investigation report is filed at the end of the month, Deputy Fire Chief Steve Hall said Tuesday.

"Our investigators have turned the house back over to the homeowner so he can start the process of repairing his home," he said. "The estimate I would say is substantial due to interior fire and smoke damage."
