Jeffrey McInnes of Loretto won ‘Ontario’s jackpot’ — $709,022.30 in the Aug. 17, 2024 Lottario draw.

Jeffrey, a father and grandfather, has been an occasional lottery player with OLG for about 30 years. He enjoys playing Lottario and Lotto Max and is now celebrating his first big win.

“I was at the gas station when I decided to go inside to grab a coffee and check my tickets,” Jeffrey recalled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I went over to the ticket checker, scanned my ticket, and saw the ‘Big Winner’ message on the screen. I thought to myself, ‘That can’t be right.’ I checked a few other tickets before re-scanning the first one. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

The 59-year-old shared the good news with his wife.

“She didn’t believe me at first. I had to show her the winning numbers on the OLG app,” he laughed. “It was a funny moment we shared.”

With his windfall, Jeffrey plans to pay off his mortgage and complete some home renovations.

Lottario launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 11:59 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the early-bird draw. Visit the Lottario page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at Foodland on Main Street East in Beeton.
