Town of Innisfil staff are proposing that council designate more parking lots for resident use only as the province heads into Phase  2 of its reopening plan.

On June 11, council will consider limiting the following parking lots to residents only:

  • 9th Line Road End

  • 10th Line Park

  • 12th/Mapleview Line Park and lot

  • 30th Sideroad North Road End and Dock

  • Guest Road Lot

  • Shore Acres (Neilly Road Lot)

  • Belle Ewart Park

  • Innisfil Beach Park lots A, B, C, E, and F.

Town staff also recommend council give authority to the CAO to add other lots to the residents-only list, or to open lots to the public based on recommendations from the town’s emergency control group.

Town staff say these measures will help with the gradual reopening of the town’s beaches.

Mayor Lynn Dollin said that the town’s beaches will not be ready for June 12, the date that Ontario provincial parks have been given to reopen.

“We are working very hard on a plan for beaches and splash pad,” she  said. “We didn’t learn about the Friday date until Monday at 1 (p.m.)  like everyone else.”

She said more details about the town’s plan to gradually reopen beaches will be announced  June 12.

Council will vote on the parking lot recommendation during a 6 p.m. meeting on June 11.
