The Innisfil Seed Library celebrates its 10th season of seed lending, resource sharing and programming in our community with a special evening of refreshments, reminiscing and a screening of the documentary In My Backyard (2022), a woman’s personal journey into urban agriculture, converting her entire backyard into a kitchen garden.

This free event celebrating the volunteer-run program takes place on Wednesday, March 26 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, Lakeshore branch. Registration is required.

On Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, Lakeshore branch, the Innisfil Seed Library, in partnership with the library and Innisfil Garden Club, is hosting its eighth annual Innisfil Seedy Saturday event. Our event includes seed vendors, garden-related community groups and businesses, 10th-anniversary season reopening of the Innisfil Seed Library, expert talks (see schedule below), children’s activities and more. Admission is free, and donations to the Troy Scott Community Fridges are appreciated.

Seedy Saturdays are a phenomenon held all over Ontario and across the country, and we are proud to continue hosting this popular spring event in our bustling community. These events bring together both new and seasoned gardeners, seed savers and community members passionate about mindful gardening, food security and our environment.

Not to be missed this year: Learn about attracting birds to your garden, foraging for wild food and successfully growing native plants to support pollinators. Ask local master gardeners all your gardening questions. Celebrate the growing season with your kids during an interactive story time. Get seeds for purchase and free of charge from exhibitors including the Innisfil Seed Library. Buy wild bird seeds, a bee house, organic soil amendments, local honey, gourmet mushrooms and so much more.

“We’re proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Innisfil Seed Library and thrilled to bring our popular annual spring event to the community again,” says Bridget Indelicato, event organizer and founder of the Innisfil Seed Library. “You’ll enjoy our curated vendors and exhibitors that will get you ready and inspired for the growing season. Enjoy free activities including expert presentations and activities for the whole family. Don’t miss out on our much-anticipated spring event.”
