Every holiday season, Innisfil baker and award-winning food artist, Beatriz Muller creates gingerbread house masterpieces for TV programs and magazine articles, something that brings joy to both her and her fans.
With all productions being done remotely this year thanks to COVID, Muller has been left with many of her pieces which she has been donating back to the community.
One of her largest projects this year, the 'Gingerbread Christmas Village' was featured on the Marilyn Denis show on Monday morning in their Gingerbread Holiday Showdown.
"This was the first one (show) where I had to do all the filming and basically follow the production's guidelines, it was a lot of learning for sure," she said.
On the show, she faced off with another baker to create the ultimate gingerbread house, but with a twist - incorporating pieces of a charcuterie board spread, with meats and cheeses.
In total, her gingerbread Christmas Village took her around 45 hours to make.
After the show, she was left with her giant masterpiece and wanted to donate it to an organization in the community that would appreciate having it on display.
She requested suggestions on her Facebook page, and in the end, decided to donate the masterpiece to Lakeside Retirement Residence.
"The residents there need a little extra cheer this year," she said.
Muller has been a baker all her life, but her passion for cake and gingerbread decorating began 12 years ago. She says she "totally loses herself" in the creative process when making her gingerbread houses.
