Sandycove Acres hosts 'wonderful' resident appreciation event (14 photos)

'I love how they put these on. It’s great to bring people together,' said resident of this week's appreciation barbecue for residents

More than 800 residents of Sandycove Acres — a Parkbridge community located at 908 Lockhart Rd. — attended the annual Resident Appreciation Barbecue earlier this week.

“We host this barbecue and other events to give back to the community (and) to solidify friendships and forge new bonds,” said Stephen Parsons, the property manager of Sandycove Acres.

"Parkbridge is committed to our CARE values: caring, authenticity, respect and excellence," he said.

As music provided by DJ Madness Entertainment permeated the sunny scene Wednesday afternoon, staff from Beach Road Grill prepared a feast which included salads, French fries, grilled corn on the cob, and chicken. Sugar Beach Sweets & Treats allowed residents to enjoy dessert before or after the meal.

An artist and entertainer from JoJoFun offered caricatures and balloon creations, and kids — or baby goats — from Triple C Farms grazed as residents pet and, in some cases, cuddled them.

“Sandycove Acres is a wonderful place for people to live, connect and enjoy life to its fullest,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “It is such a unique community and the residents there benefit from the many planned activities, such as today’s resident appreciation barbecue. I always appreciate being invited to join these events as it is a great opportunity to connect with Sandycove Acres residents.”

Sandycove resident and retired Innisfil firefighter, Kenneth Donovan told InnisfilToday this was his third time attending the annual appreciation event.

“There’s nothing like it. In Sandycove, there’s lots going on. If you want to do it, you can do it. If you don’t want to do it, go sit on your porch and enjoy that. But don’t worry about having to get out,” Donovan said. “We have a ball. We do what we want to do.”

Wendy Shea has been a resident of Sandycove Acres for almost four years.

“I love how they put these on. It’s great to bring people together,” she said. “I love how they put on seminars as well, to keep us informed about safety and all kinds of different things that they have coming up. As long as you got an email (address), it’s all out there.

“I just love how they help the whole community come together,” Shea added.

Parsons said the residents deserve the event.

“The residents of Sandycove give so much to their community. They are involved with the Township of Innisfil and volunteer or donate to various non-profit organizations. This is our way of saying thank you to such a wonderful and caring community,” Parsons said.
