Get cozy and stream Innisfil council from the comfort of your couch tonight.
The nasty winter weather and ongoing snow-squall warning in effect for the area means the town’s Jan. 29 council meeting is going virtual-only.
It is scheduled to include discussion on the town potentially joining the County of Simcoe insurance pool, numerous speed-limit changes, the signalization of a pedestrian crossing at Holy Cross Catholic School, and the repurposing of Jans Boulevard tennis courts for pickleball.
Innisfil’s draft 2025-26 budget could also be ratified.
Environment Canada predicts local snowfall amounts of between 15 and 25 centimetres today, with northwesterly winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour. This may result in significantly reduced visibility at times.
"The lake effect snow will taper in intensity through tonight," the weather agency said in a statement on its website. "Winds will also weaken this evening. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow."
You can livestream the meeting via the town's YouTube channel. Anyone who wants to participate in open forum must email [email protected].
