The Town of Innisfil is getting its first new cannabis store next week, Starbuds Co. located at the end of Innisfil Beach Road and steps away from the beach.
This is the third location opened by Stew Garner. A soft opening will be on Tuesday and a grand opening on Friday Nov.20, with giveaways for the public.
“We wanted to be close to the water, as close to the beach as possible,” shares Jill Beresford, new manager of Innisfil Starbuds Co. “Downtown is fun and fresh... we’re excited!”
Beresford adds that the new store has been freshly painted an off-white colour to give the appearance of a more open space, and that the other locations in Bradford and Barrie will also be repainted to help brighten the interiors of the stores.
“This is the new direction that we’ve chosen to go in with our locations,” notes Beresford about the store’s layout. “Having more out on the floor on display for our customers… it’s more friendly for our users."
Beresford has worked at all the Starbuds Co. locations, including managing the Bradford store since its opening this past summer. She has an in-depth knowledge of all the products.
“We’re selling a wide variety of products from CBD soft chews to THC flower and hash," notes Beresford. “We actually did some training on a new product called a click-pen [which] has a .1000mg of concentrate distillate with .25mg per click and you can use it as a topper… it’s really clean and easy to use."
Garner and Beresford were joined by the Town of Innisfil’s Mayor Lynn Dollin, and Coun. Donna Orsatti, as well as MP John Brassard and MPP Andrea Khanjin in recognition and support of the store’s opening.
“Council here is very supportive of businesses,” expresses Brassard. “Andrea and I, our job is to not stand in front of businesses but to stand behind businesses and make sure that we’re there to support them any way that we can… it’s not just the investment you make but the investment in the people you hire as well."
MP Khanjin adds “on behalf of the Provincial Government, congratulations! Not only did you get the licensing, but you have opened multiple locations and that takes talent, effort and perseverance. I know with mental health impacts right now, people can turn to your products for that type of assistance as well."
“We really appreciate you being here and wish you all the success!” expressed Mayor Dollin.
Garner notes there will be a fourth Starbuds Co. location opening near Brassard’s office in Barrie in the coming months as Starbuds Co. continues to expand throughout Simcoe County.
“We’ve been targeting Innisfil for many months now,” shares Garner. “Trying to find the proper location, and this one just seemed like a viable spot for us, so close to the lake, that’s where we wanted to be, right in the hub of the city”.
