InnPower crews were hard at work Sunday after a severe thunderstorm toppled trees and downed power lines, leaving many Stroud residents in the dark.

Major winds caused trees to fall onto roads and power lines. At one point, most of the Innisfil village was without power.

Geoff Perry and his friend, Matt Cruz, were returning to Stroud from riding motorcycles when the storm came through.

Perry’s girlfriend was bringing in their horses.

“She could barely see them in the rain, it was so intense and the wind was blowing,” he said.

After the rain stopped, Perry and his friend were amazed by the damage they found.

“It's just jaw dropping to see some of these uprooted trees,” he said.

InnPower crews were also dispatched to outages in Gilford and the Strathallen Woods area.

By 10 p.m. on June 21, InnPower reported that power had been restored to the 9th Line and to the majority of customers in Stroud, with the exception of Victoria Street. Power was restored to Victoria Street on Monday.
