The 2023 Canadian International Trap Nationals are taking place at the Toronto International Trap and Skeet Club in the Cookstown area this weekend.
From Aug. 4 to 7, competitors from across Canada, as well as athletes from Brazil, India, the United States, and the United Kingdom will be in attendance.
This event will bring the best trap shooters in Canada to Cookstown with many vying to compete at the upcoming 2023 Pan Am Games.
“The Toronto International Trap and Skeet Club are excited to host this event and believe that the increasing international interest in this event will help to grow the sport here in Canada," says Brett Nattrass, match director.
"The sport has a long history in Canada and most notably this site welcomed the Americas in 2015 for the Toronto Pan Am Games. This is sure to be a fantastic four days of competition," he says.

Our thanks to the officials, volunteers and the Toronto International Trap and Skeet Club for hosting the Shooting Federation of Canada's National Trap Championships," said Jasmine Northcott, CEO of the Shooting Federation of Canada.
Notable Canadian athlete Susan Nattrass will be in attendance throughout the event. Nattrass is one of Canada's most successful trap shooters to represent Canada at the Olympic Games. She made her Olympic debut at the Games in Montreal in 1976 where she became the first woman to compete in an Olympic trap-shooting event.
Since then, Nattrass has qualified for five more Olympic Games, with her highlight finish of sixth in Athens in 2004. Her career was recognized by the Canadian Olympic Committee as she was the flag barer in Rio de Janeiro 2007 at the Pan Am Games opening ceremonies.
