Canadiens defenceman Guhle has appendix removed, will be re-evaluated in seven days

MONTREAL — Defenceman Kaiden Guhle has had his appendix removed according to the Montreal Canadiens.

The team says he will be re-evaluated in seven days.

Guhle was selected 16th overall by Montreal in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

He has 10 goals, 30 assists, 83 penalty minutes and a minus-27 defensive rating over 114 NHL games.

The 22-year-old from Edmonton won the Ed Chynoweth Cup, the Western Hockey League's championship, with the Prince Albert Raiders in 2018-19 and his hometown Oil Kings in 2021-22.

Guhle earned silver with Canada at the 2021 world junior hockey championship. He had two goals and an assist in seven tournament games.
