Jun 14, 1946 - Apr 24, 2024
Robert Wayne Henry “Bob”, aged 77, passed away with his children, Liana Davis & Rob Henry by his side at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 24th, 2024. Being a Diabetic for the past 40 years came with numerous challenges. More serious complications and additional health issues in recent years took their toll. He can now rest in peace.
Bob was born on June 14th, 1946, together with his twin Ken, in Montreal to parents Ruby Henry (nee Partridge) & Maxwell Robert (Bob) Henry. He grew up in North York and was a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute where he studied Business. He was ambitious from a young age, working a variety of jobs. His sales positions took him from British Columbia with 3M, to Saudi Arabia with Northern Telecom.
Upon his return to Richmond Hill where he resided, he had a love for the outdoors which made the cottage in Muskoka a treasured place. Lots of fond memories were made teaching his children how to fish, water ski, snowmobile and more. As a sports enthusiast, he was a loyal & true-blue fan of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.
Upon retiring, one of the things Bob filled his time with was helping others. He took pride in being a Volunteer for the Kidney Foundation for over 20 years where he was the Regional Team Leader in Richmond Hill for many canvassers. He also helped drive friends and neighbours to appointments and run errands.
In recent years, Bob moved up to Barrie where he continued to enjoy his pet birds, and the beauty of nature in his own backyard. As a man of simple pleasures, he didn’t need much. He was happiest with his family, particularly his grandsons, Carson Peters & Robbie Henry.
He was predeceased by both his parents, and his younger sister, Shirley Rocket (nee Henry). Bob will be sadly missed by his immediate family, beloved cousins, other extended family, and dear friends.
In true fashion of Bob’s generous nature, he was happy to be a registered Organ & Tissue Donor with the Trillium Gift of Life Network.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to donate a park bench or tree to Barrie or Muskoka Park Lands in Bob’s memory. Any donations for this cause would be greatly appreciated. Family served by Innisfil Funeral Home.
