Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our loving Mom, Nana, and friend Joan Mamie Lawson, who passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 27, 2022. Joan will be deeply missed by her loving family including son Joe (Lee), daughter Laura (Mark), granddaughters Hannah, Ainslee, Bryanna and Savanna and many friends. Joan was predeceased by her brother Bob and her mom Mamie. Joan enjoyed a lengthy career as a passionate and inspiring teacher for 50 years, including a year in England and volunteering after retirement. She was an avid golfer and was very excited to achieve every golfer’s dream of a hole in one at her home course Harbourview Golf & Country Club. She loved travelling with family and friends within Canada, the U.S, Europe, and annual trips to Cuba. Her kindness and generosity were evident with her ongoing commitment to many charities and worthy causes. Joan treasured time with family, which was of the greatest importance to her. We are forever grateful for our time spent with her. She lived an amazing life full of joy and touched everyone who knew her. She adored her children and granddaughters and was the best Mom and Nana – always our biggest cheerleader at sporting events and family functions. We will love you always and forever. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for their kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe through BASIC FUNERALS & CREMATION CHOICES – JENNETT MEMORIAL CENTRE, 152 Bradford Street, Barrie would be appreciated. Celebration of life to follow.
