Passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 100 years and 6 months. He lived a life rich in love, commitment, and service, leaving behind an enduring legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Lyle's journey began on the family farm, where he spent his formative years. His passion for the land never left him, and after he married the love of his life Jean in 1951, they bought a farm, creating a nurturing environment for family and friends alike. His dedication to his family was matched only by his commitment to education. He returned to university as an adult and earned a BA and MSc and served as a high school teacher for 30 years, shaping the minds of countless students and imparting wisdom that extended far beyond the classroom.

His greatest pride was his family. Other accomplishments included a successful woodworking business after retirement that highlighted his artistic talents and craftsmanship, and a loving marriage with Jean that flourished for 73 years.

Lyle's personality reflected the virtues of loyalty and love. He was a devoted family man and his warmth made a lasting impression on those around him. Beyond his professional life, Lyle had a passion for flying and travel, explorations that enhanced his zest for life and connection to the world. His deep faith in God was a cornerstone of his existence, providing strength and guidance through life's journey.

Lyle also served his country with honor in the Canadian Air Force during World War II, demonstrating a commitment to service that would define many aspects of his character.

He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories for his family and friends, who will forever hold dear the moments shared with him. His loyalty and loving spirit will remain an inspiration as they navigate life without his presence.
