At least one person has been airlifted to a trauma centre following what provincial police are calling a “serious" two-vehicle collision that had initially closed both the southbound and northbound lanes of Highway 400, south of Highway 89, this afternoon.
One person was rushed to a trauma centre after being ejected from the vehicle, police said.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m., the southbound lanes remained closed at Highway 89, but northbound lanes had reopened.
In a video posted to Twitter just after noon on Friday, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, who is with the Highway Safety Division, noted Aurora OPP officers were on the scene and that all southbound lanes were being forced off at Highway 89.
The sergeant said motorists should expect “heavy delays and detours in place."
Drivers are able to get back on the 400 at the Highway 88 on-ramp, he said.
“Currently, two vehicles involved in the collision — one vehicle rolled over several times,” he noted in a video posted to Twitter.

Two people in the rolled-over vehicle were transported to hospital — one to a trauma centre and the other to a local hospital.
The occupant in the second vehicle was also taken to a local hospital with what Schmidt described as “relatively minor injuries.”
The OPP’s Technical Collision investigators are currently at the scene, along with Aurora OPP.
“All southbound lanes are blocked, but northbound lanes have reopened after Air Ornge was able to airlift and transport one of the involved parties to a trauma centre,” he said.
More information will be available later as the investigation is completed, Schmidt added.
