Emergency crews were called to a barn fire in Essa Township on Feb. 3, 2025.

No injuries are being reported after area fire crews responded to a barn blaze last night in the Angus area.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Feb. 3, Nottawasaga OPP officers, as well as firefighters from Essa, New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio and Clearview, were called to the scene at 7199 County Rd. 10, south of Angus.

"Upon arrival, the barn was fully engulfed (in flames)," OPP stated in a news release.

The barn held equipment and machinery, police say. There was no one in the barn at the time, nor any livestock.

"The cause of the fire was determined to be a block heater inside the barn and it is not considered to be suspicious," OPP stated in the release.

The fire did not spread to nearby residences, according to police.

The roadway near the barn remained closed on County Road 10 in both directions, from County Road 21 to the 20th Sideroad. It reopened shortly after 11:30 p.m.
