Mercedes drivers charged in 2 separate impaired-related incidents

South Simcoe police charged two Mercedes drivers with impaired-related offences Saturday.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, at approximately 7:36 a.m., South Simcoe Police received a report of a single vehicle collision that occurred in the area of Sideroad 20 and Line 5 in Innisfil. The incident involved a white Mercedes-Benz that was reported in the ditch and the driver was attempting to drive it out. Upon arrival, police officers conducted the investigation and the driver, a 48-year-old male from Toronto, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Drugs and Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 14, 2024.

Later that day, at approximately 5:31 p.m., South Simcoe Police received two separate calls regarding a possible impaired driver swerving all over the road and nearly going into the ditch multiple times. The information received from the two callers led police officers to search the area of Sideroad 5 near County Road 88 in Bradford West Gwillimbury for a black Mercedes-Benz. Officers located the vehicle on County Road 88 at the Highway 400 Southbound ramp. Police stopped the vehicle and conducted the investigation. Officers found several empty bottles of alcohol in the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 26-year-old female from Concord, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Drugs and Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration. Her licence was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She is scheduled to appear in court on November 14, 2024.

South Simcoe Police would like to thank the citizens who reported the suspicious activity which led to the arrest of the impaired drivers in our community. We all have a role in keeping our communities safe, and together we can make a difference in road safety and help everyone arrive alive. Anyone who witnesses a suspected impaired driver is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
