South-end Barrie blaze sends two to hospital; fire marshal investigating

The province's Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating after a blaze on Columbia Road in Barrie on Monday. Two occupants were taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

City fire crews responded to a residential fire in southwest Barrie early this morning, with two occupants being sent to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

At 2:20 a.m. on Feb. 24, Barrie Fire and Emergency Service received the call for a blaze on Columbia Road, near Essa Road and Mapleview Drive West.

Firefighters from four stations responded with six trucks for “significant” structure blaze, according to Fire Chief Kevin White.

“The fire was quickly extinguished,” he said.

The blaze remains under investigation. 

“The fire marshal’s office is investigating and that will be ongoing throughout the day,” White added.
