Transport truck rollover closes stretch of 5th Sideroad in Innisfil (update)

South Simcoe police say the incident happened between the 7th Line and Innisfil Beach Road on July 17

Updated on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:45 p.m: A transport-truck rollover shut down a stretch of the 5th Sideroad in Innisfil Wednesday afternoon.

South Simcoe police say the incident happened between the 7th Line and Innisfil Beach Road. This portion of the 5th was closed for several hours in both directions while crews worked to remove the truck from a ditch, however it has since reopened.

"A tractor trailer made a wide left turn into a construction site ... and the wheels entered the west ditch while making the wide turn resulting (in) the truck tipping over and laying on its right side," police spokesperson Isabella Soligo said.

The driver exited the vehicle without assistance. They were assessed at the scene by emergency personnel and "cleared" with minor injuries, she said.

No charges will be laid.

While cleanup was occurring, police asked motorists to avoid the area.
