Jan. 24 is International Day of Education, which is fundamental to breaking cycles of poverty, inequality and discrimination.
It is key to fostering a world where every individual, regardless of gender, race, or socio-economic background, can achieve their full potential. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) placed a tremendous emphasis on the value of education, saying, “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.”
Today, factors like poverty, war, climate change, and lack of infrastructure continue to hinder educational opportunities in many parts of the world. Governments, non-governmental organizations and other public interest groups working for education should renew their commitment to ensuring that education becomes a reality for everyone everywhere.
