The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library is thrilled to announce that tickets are now on sale for Spark: A Celebration of Creativity and Imagination.
Mark your calendars for the library’s inaugural fundraising gala, happening on Thursday, Feb. 29, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lakeshore branch in Alcona (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.).
Dive into an enchanting affair that’ll banish the winter blues. Indulge in an evening filled with food, drinks, unique entertainment, and unforgettable experiences. You won’t want to miss out on this exclusive event.
Keynote speaker announcement: We are honoured to present our keynote speaker, Elamin Abdelmahmoud, acclaimed author of Son of Elsewhere and the charismatic host of CBC Radio’s Commotion.
Elamin is a Sudanese-Canadian, and reflects on his experience of immigrating to Canada as a 12-year-old in his bestselling memoir, Son of Elsewhere. He is a pop culture writer whose work has been featured in Globe and Mail, Maclean’s, Rolling Stone, and others.
Wine tasting and book pairing: In addition to our keynote speaker, your Spark tickets will include book and wine pairings, featuring three outstanding Canadian authors:
- Thea Lim, author of the Scotiabank Giller Prize-shortlisted An Ocean of Minutes.
- Farah Heron, renowned for her heartwarming and witty romantic comedies for both adults and young adults, including titles like The Chai Factor, Accidentally Engaged, Tahira in Bloom and How to Win a Breakup.
- Hannah Mary McKinnon, a bestselling author known for gripping thrillers like The Revenge List, Only One Survives and Never Coming Home, as well as her lighter rom-coms under the pen name Holly Cassidy.
Art slam: Be mesmerized as local artists Jeanette Luchese and Maria Kelebeev paint live during the event. Seize the chance to bid and take home one (or both) of their outstanding pieces.
Spark will celebrate the power of community, creativity, and innovation, all while raising funds for essential programs in Innisfil. Support from this event will directly benefit the community allowing the library to do more. More programs. More events. More connections.
