Community shows support for slain OPP officer (8 photos)

Funeral procession went through area this morning as it made its way to Barrie; the funeral will be held in Barrie on Jan. 4

The procession to escort OPP Const. Grzegorz (Greg) Pierzchala, who was from Barrie, took place Friday morning.

The 28-year-old OPP officer was killed on Dec. 27 while responding to a call west of Hagersville.

The procession departed from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto at 9 a.m. Friday and travel northbound on Highway 400 to Barrie.

Members of the public joined first responders including the OPP, South Simcoe Police, Bradford Fire and Emergency Services and the Schomberg Fire Department in showing their respects from the Highway 88 and Line 5 Hwy 400 overpasses in Bradford.

A funeral for the officer will be held in Barrie Jan. 4.
