Cookstown is about to brighten up.
The historic village will host its annual Light Up Night celebration Saturday, Nov. 23. Organized by the Cookstown and District Chamber of Commerce, the event encourages visitors to wander the village from 5 to 8 p.m. and discover a “wide variety of artisan vendors and crafters” in shops and spaces, stop in on a tree-lighting ceremony near the Masonic Lodge at 6 p.m., and watch a beautifully lit, 20-float Santa Claus parade roll along Queen Street, from the Home Hardware to the Cookstown Curling Club, at 6:30 p.m.
“Santa himself will be there to wish everyone a bright and joyful holiday season,” the chamber said in a post on its website. “Bring your family and friends for an evening filled with festive cheer, community, and Cookstown holiday spirit.”
Earlier in the day, the chamber and Trish Beesley Photography will offer free digital pictures with Santa at The Photographers House (8 Queen St., Unit 1) from 2 to 4 p.m. No sign-up is required.
