Sharpen those blades, because one of Innisfil’s most unique outdoor features is welcoming skaters once again.
The Town Square skating trail is open for the season, subject to weather conditions, at 971 Innisfil Beach Rd., right beside the Lakeshore branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library.
This 240-metre-long trail is scheduled to be available daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the winter months.
Rules for this area include a ban on hockey sticks and pucks. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult, skates are required on the ice, strollers and wheelchairs are permitted but must be checked for sand or grit, and skaters are advised to wear a CSA-approved helmet.
No dogs, food or drinks are allowed on the ice.
Users may be asked to leave if they engage in unsafe or hazardous activities.
Town Square officially opened earlier this year. The site also features a playground, a fire pit, a stage and seated warming areas.
Also of note, the Cookstown outdoor rink, located at 20 Church St., is still closed.
