Sept. 27, 1939 - Nov. 23, 2024
John Jagoe passed in his sleep at Mulcaster Mews in Barrie from complications after a stroke in his 86th year.
Sadly missed by his wife Anne. Loving father to his children Stephen, and Lesley (Kevin Smith). Predeceased by five brothers; survived by three sisters, one brother and extended family in Fredericton, New Brunswick and St. Catharines, Ontario.
John was born in Newcastle (now Miramichi), New Brunswick and later moved to Toronto where he met and married Anne. The family moved from Toronto to Barrie in 1980 to advance his career with Ontario Hydro. John was involved in various community organizations and groups. He was Past Master of Corinthian Lodge AF&AM #96 and Past Principal of Phoenix (formerly Signet) Chapter 34 and was active in both. He was also involved at St. George's as sidesman, reader and a member of the Hairnet Society in the kitchen where for many years he peeled and cut pounds of onions for their meat pies.
After retirement he enjoyed summers in Muskoka at cottages first on Lake Joe and later on Stewart Lake, entertaining friends and family there. He and Anne enjoyed travelling. His favourite trips were to Ireland and two to Bermuda. There were Winter cruises including a family cruise through the Panama Canal for a special birthday. John and Anne moved to Sandycove 15 years ago and even though dementia changed him over the years, he still enjoyed his love of music. One of his fun things to do was to sing with the Sandycove Glee Club and as well he sang when he was helping in the Church kitchen and to anyone else who would listen almost right up to the end.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St George's Anglican Church, 9 Granville St., Barrie on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm, with visitation starting at 1:00 pm. A reception in the Church hall will follow the service.

We would like to thank Dr. Kirstin Mossman for her care and concern for John, and the special "girls" Leslie, Jackie and Adinne who helped with John's care
over the years. As well, we would also like to thank the staff at Mulcaster Mews for taking on his care.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of John may be made to the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Programme Windsor/Essex, or the Alzheimer's Association of Barrie would be appreciated.
