Style infused with a sense of tradition will be available at the newest barbershop in town.

Early Bird Barbershop at 1208 Ewart St. in Lefroy officially opens its doors tomorrow — Tuesday, Sept. 17 — with its grand opening on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 12-3 p.m.

“I started cutting hair from home 15 years ago and was instantly hooked,” owner Marco Conetta said.

He has worked in a number of shops over the years; this is the first barbershop he will call his own.

He told InnisfilToday he has a very clear vision of what he wants his own shop to be.

“What separates us is that we aim to provide a traditional barber experience. I want men — young and old to walk in and feel what their fathers and grandfathers felt in barbershops 80 years ago.”

As a lifelong resident of Aurora and a father of two, Conetta seeks to offer Early Bird Barbershop as a gathering place for men that can serve as a legacy for his children.

“Working in the industry for as long as I have, I've seen time and time again, smaller communities get overlooked for business development because people think, ‘it's too small, there's no point," said Conetta.

“I've also time and time again seen barbers taken advantage of as employees with sub-par commission rates and very little personal agency over their careers," he explained.

“As such, the vision for the shop was really two-pronged in philosophy; to bring classic men’s grooming to smaller communities and more rural areas that otherwise have gone without, and to create an environment  where the barbers themselves — myself included — can prosper and have a better quality of life.”

Conetta told InnisfilToday that two fellow "artists" will be helping him provide Lefroy with their grooming needs.

“While we chose to focus on men, philosophically, there's no difference between a barber and a hairstylist, both wish to make people feel good by helping them look good,” he explained.

“We believe that beardcare is just as important as haircare. Many men struggle to find what will work best for their face shape, and that's something that we would love to help them with.”

When brainstorming names for his new business, Conetta said he sought to come up with a name that hearkened back to simpler times. “The first thing that came to mind was the ‘early bird special’. This is a tradition we will carry on, offering $5 off of our services every Saturday before noon.”

Early Bird Barbershop’s grand opening on Sunday will offer an even bigger discount of $10 off each haircut from 12-3 p.m.

“We will have pizza and drinks for those that wish to join us,” Conetta said. “Ultimately, all we really want is to create a gathering place for all men to feel at home, and we look forward to the journey!”
