Get ready for an exciting weekend of entertainment at the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library. We're bringing you an unforgettable blend of music and literature this Mother's Day weekend. Enjoy toe-tapping tunes from Boreal and dive into thought-provoking discussions with author Janika Oza.

In partnership with Innisfil Live Music and the Innisfil Arts, Culture, and Heritage Council (IACHC), we are excited to host an evening of music and celebration by welcoming Boreal in concert. Enjoy a combination of sun-loving, finger-snapping, and heart-touching songs just in time for spring. Their concert, “Songs of Renewal”, brings together three amazing award-winning artists who love playing music together. Let Boreal lift your spirits on Friday, May 10 at the Lakeshore Branch (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $30 cash, payable at the door. Reserve your spot today.

On Saturday, May 11, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., join us at the Lakeshore Branch for a talk with award winning writer and author of A History of Burning, Janika Oza. A History of Burning extends across India, Uganda, England, and Canada, and tells the story of how one act of survival influences multiple generations of a family and their pursuit for a place of their own. Janika is the winner of the 2024 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, a finalist for the 2023 Governor General's Award for Fiction, shortlisted for the 2024 Carol Shields Prize for Fiction, and a New York Times Editor’s Choice. Read more about Janika Oza and A History of Burning online
