Barrie hotel fire sends one person to hospital, cause still under investigation

Barrie firefighters were called to the Quality Inn on Hart Drive late Thursday night

The investigation into a fire at a Barrie hotel is underway after a late-night blaze, Thursday.

Barrie firefighters were called to the Quality Inn at 55 Hart Dr., around 11:45 p.m., for a fire in a suite. 

Assistant Deputy Chief Derek Wilson said one person was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH).

“We have held the scene overnight and into the daylight hours as they are going forward with the investigation this morning,” Wilson told BarrieToday

Wilson said three people were checked out on the scene, while others in the affected area were moved to another wing of the hotel while the investigation took place.

There is no cause or damage esimated yet.
