City police are investigating an attempted break-in which occurred at a south-end Barrie home Tuesday evening.
Police say they received the call just after 8 p.m. on Feb. 25, and responded to a Claire Drive residence, near Huronia and Lockhart roads.
Officers contained the area and brought in a canine unit, “but unfortunately the scene was contaminated, so there wasn’t an ability for a canine track,” police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.
Police say the person responsible is still at large.
From the investigation, police say it appears a rear patio door had been smashed during the break-in attempt.
“We canvassed the immediate area for security camera footage, and we have received some information to help with the ongoing investigation,” Leon said.
Jeff Kirk, who lives across from the home where the incident occurred, said he witnessed the suspect enter the area on his security camera while away from his home.
“I saw buddy walk up my driveway with his face covered,” he told BarrieToday. “I was picking up my daughter … and called my neighbour across the street to check it out.
“(It’s) never a good feeling to have your privacy violated,” Kirk added. “Luckily, I’m in the glass business, and can help her replace the door, (which is) fairly inexpensive, but her privacy and comfort cannot be restored.”
Security footage below captured the suspect in the area.
