A collision between a vehicle and cyclist on Highway 12 has led to “life-altering injuries,” for the cyclist, OPP officials say. A section of the highway remains closed while police carry out an investigation.

A section of Highway 12 is closed this morning following a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist, OPP officials say.

Highway 12 is closed between Forest Avenue and Atherley Road as members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team carry out an investigation.

“What we know now is a motor vehicle struck a cyclist,” OPP officials said in an email to OrilliaMatters. “Our TIME team is on scene with reconstructionists investigating. The highway will remain closed while they complete their investigation.”

The cyclist has been transported to a Toronto area trauma centre via Air Ornge with “life-altering injuries,” OPP officials say.
