'No concern for public safety': Police investigate Bradford incident (update)

Heavy South Simcoe police presence seen on Britannia Avenue in the northeast area of town Thursday afternoon

An East Gwillimbury man has been taken into custody following an incident in the northeastern part of Bradford West Gwillimbury Feb. 6.

Few other details are being released at this time, but South Simcoe police confirm they conducted an investigation in the area of Britannia Avenue.

"The police investigation has concluded," spokesperson Samah Othman said in an email Thursday afternoon. "South Simcoe Police Emergency Response Unit and Canine were called out to assist. A 25-year-old-male from East Gwillimbury was taken into custody. No injuries reported."

Witnesses told BradfordToday there was a large presence of about 10 police vehicles in the affected area. 

“There is no concern for public safety,” police said in a social-media post earlier in the day. “The public are asked to please avoid the area as police continue their investigation.”
