The South Simcoe Police Service (SSPS) is excited to bring back our Police Chief for a Day Contest.
This is your chance to step into the shoes of SSPS Chief of Police John Van Dyke and experience what it’s like to lead our dedicated members. We are looking for creative and driven students who want to share why they want to become police chief for a day. We will be selecting two winners to serve as junior chiefs, one from Bradford and one from Innisfil. On Aug. 28, 2024, the winners will experience a day in the life of our police chief, including being sworn in, learning about our different units, and meeting our members.
Contest details:
- Who can enter: students entering Grade 6 in September 2024, at a school in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury or the Town of Innisfil
- Essay topic: Why do you want to become police chief for a day?
- Word limit: one page
- Deadline: Friday, Aug. 2, 2024
The lucky winners will serve as police chief Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.
Day includes:
- A swearing-in ceremony
- A tour of our police stations (Bradford and Innisfil)
- Presentations/meet-and-greet from our specialized units — Canine, Traffic, Court, and Forensic Identification)
- Lunch (on us)
- A tour of Lake Simcoe on our police boat with our marine officers
- You will also receive police attire.
How to enter:
- Write your essay: Be thoughtful, detailed, and creative.
- Submit: Send your submission to [email protected]. Be sure to include the following alongside your submission:Your full name
- Your age
- Your shirt size (please specify youth or adult sizing)
- Your parent’s/guardian’s full name
- Contact information (phone number and email address)
- Deadline: Ensure your submission is in by Friday, Aug. 2, 2024
