Local police ventured into a cornfield to pull up 538 illegal cannabis plants discovered by an area farmer.
According to a news release from Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a farmer was working in a field in Springwater July 29 when he came across the grow op. The farmer reported it to police, who arrived and located 538 immature cannabis plants.
"All four plots were deep into the cornfield," states the OPP news release.
The plants were destroyed at the scene.
Members of the Community Street Crime Unit are involved in the ongoing investigation.
