Accused fraudster Todd Guthrie has been arrested again after two more charges were added to the growing list of accusations against him, some of which are heading toward an expected resolution next month in Collingwood.
Guthrie, 45, of Collingwood, made a court appearance by video on Tuesday. That case was put over until next week and he remains in custody at the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene.
The most recent charges are both for fraud under $5,000 and date back to 2023, the year most of the alleged frauds are said to have taken place, court heard.
Guthrie is now facing more than 10 charges of fraud under $5,000, at least three counts of fraud over $5,000 and a false pretenses rap.
Alleged victims were spread all over the Simcoe County area and as far north as Bracebridge.
During a court appearance in Barrie last week, the Crown and Guthrie’s lawyer set a Feb. 11 court date in Collingwood, where at least some of his charges were slated for a resolution.
It's unclear if the Crown will attempt to group the recent charges into those slated for resolution on that date.
Another unknown at this point is if more alleged victims will come forward, as the two new charges suggest other information and/or victims became known that led to the accused’s arrest and additional charges.
Guthrie is accused of using a variety of internet and in-person schemes to sell unsuspecting customers non-existent concert and hockey tickets.
