Pedestrian taken to hospital following hit-and-run in Essa: OPP

Female victim says she was walking along County Road 10 in the Angus area when she was hit Saturday night, suffering minor injuries

ESSA TWP. — Provincial police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run after a woman reported she had been struck along County Road 10 in Essa Township, west of Barrie, on Saturday night. 

Shortly before midnight on Jan. 18, 2025, Nottawasaga OPP officers were called to a "traffic hazard" on County Road 10, south of Angus.

"Officers attended County Road 10 between 25th Sideroad and Willoughby Road for a report of a female party laying on the edge of the road," OPP stated in a news release. "Police attended the area and were unable to locate anyone."

Shortly after, police say officers were contacted by a female who said she was walking along County Road 10, in the area of civic number 8085, when she was struck by a vehicle.

Officers were able to locate and speak to the female, at which time she was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
