A 38-year-old Bradford man was arrested shortly after an alleged armed robbery took place in the Holland Street area last night.
South Simcoe police responded to a report of a robbery at a business Sunday, Jan. 19, at around 6 p.m. An investigation revealed a suspect attended the store and produced a black folding knife. He apparently threatened the employee and made a demand for money.
The staffer refused to cooperate, however, and the suspect eventually "fled the store with stolen goods," police say.
“The store employee was not harmed and did not report any injuries,” the department said in a media release issued Monday morning.
Officers, with the assistance of the canine unit, located the suspect a short distance away.
He has been charged with robbery, failing to comply with an undertaking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000) and disguise with intent.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing.
